Start of the S.Wheat Pro. Project won by the Dr Rosa Pilolli from ISPA-CNR Bari
After a long evaluation process, the start in these days of the SIR project (Scientific Independence of young Researchers) 2014, funded by MIUR for young researchers under 40 to support the independence of their research activity. Less than 3% of the proposals submitted were admitted to the funding.
The aim of the project S. Wheat Pro “Proteomic characterization of Selected durum Wheat cultivars for Production of low toxicity-food Products towards celiac disease patients” (Life Sciences) is to select and detoxify Triticum durum genotypes with low toxicity for CD patients. The hosting institution where the project will be carried out is the institute of sciences of food production (ISPA-CNR) with the support of Dr. Linda Monaci in the proteomic field and in cooperation with Dr. Gianfranco Mamone from ISA ( Avellino) and Dr. Carmen Gianfrani from IBP (Napoli). Consulting activities with the major experts Dr. Agata Gadaleta (genomic investigations) and with Prof. Maria De Angelis (detoxification strategies), both from the DiSSPA Department of University of Bari, are also foreseen.
